Like most Gen-X'ers I grew up with the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in the late 1980s. At the the time, there was nothing else like it! As a middle-schooler, I saved my lawn mowing money to buy the NES Control Deck and a game for my 12th birthday (I had already played so much Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt at friends' houses, that I opted to go the ala carte option). My first game was Rush'n Attack and I played it endlessly. Soon after, my game collection grew, albeit slowly, to include Metroid, Zelda II - The Adventure of Link, and my all-time favorites Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and Tecmo Bowl.
Approaching my AARP years, I have rekindled my fondness for those classic NES titles of my youth. I stumbled across a mini knock-off NES HDMI system that included over 620 pre-loaded games priced under US$50! I could now re-live my childhood by playing some of my favorite titles as well as some that were elusive and rare like Wayne's World and Duck Tales 2. Since Nintendo released over 750 game titles in North America, not all games were available on the knock-off system like Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, Super Dodge Ball, and Super C.
Thankfully the knock-off NES system I have has the flexibility to add additional ROMs via SD card - which is how this list of NES titles was born! I needed an efficient way to organize and sort all of the North American NES titles. In addition to sorting by titles missing from the knock-off system, I added the ability to sort by accessories (Zapper Light Gun, ROB the Robot, Power Pad, etc) and even the Official NES Mini Console released in 2016 (30 pre-loaded titles).
