The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition, commonly known as the mini NES, was released in 2016 as a compact, plug-and-play replica of the original NES console. Designed to resemble the classic 1985 system but at a smaller scale, the mini NES is preloaded with 30 iconic games (see below). It features an HDMI output for modern televisions and a replica NES controller with a wired connection, which can also be used with the Wii and Wii U. Unlike the original system, the NES Classic Edition does not support cartridges or additional games natively, but it supports save states, allowing players to pause and resume gameplay at any time.
